Teaching Philosophy

My three guiding aims in teaching are that every student:
  1. develops a lifelong love and appreciation of music (cultivated in part through helping each student realize their innate curiosities and desires, and by molding the lesson to help each student achieve his or her individual goals),
  2. that they advance as musicians, building their identity and self-esteem through self-expression and the forging of a skill with their own two hands, and
  3. that they grow and mature as individuals, nourished to the extent possible through their time spent with me.
